Boundary Walks
The first boundary walk was scheduled for 7th February 2009. Both the long and short version of the walk was completed successfully. Every month following on from that date until completion, the walks took place and were a great success.

A Walk Around Our District.
On Saturday 5th November 2011, 41 members of the Malvern Hills District Footpath Society walked the last of their Boundary Walks and celebrated with a tea, served by Ripple WI, in Ripple village hall.
The first boundary walk was in February 2009 (in the snow – see picture)
and since then some 315 miles have been walked in 30 circular walks, each led by a different leader and with an average of 20 members.
Pictured are John Allsopp, Sally Linsey, Lyn and Mike Everitt,
who managed to complete all 30 long walks.
On 22 of the walks, a shorter walk option of about 6 miles was also offered and this attracted an average of 9 further members. The walks stretched from Tewkesbury & Dymock in the south via Fownhope & Bodenham in the west - to Tenbury Wells, Mamble and Stourport in the north and on to Shrawley, Worcester & Kempsey in the east.
During the preparation in 2005/06 for the 30 boundary walks, some 360 obstructions of which 46 were major problems were reported to the Local Authorities. Only 11 of these 46 major obstructions remain and most of the less serious problems have also been cleared. Pictured is a new footbridge (it had simply been an impenetrable hedge and ditch before)
which was installed just in time for boundary walk number 3.
A loose leaf folder will be kept by the Society’s Mapping Section containing a full description and map of each long and short boundary walk so that members can complete any walks they missed or re-walk individual routes in the future.
The Society’s next long distance walk will be the Diamond Way starting in March 2012 but in the meantime the usual two, more local walks are being offered every week.
